Extra tip: If you're interested, there's a place called Jaroenthong Muay Thai Gym near Khao San Road where you can learn martial arts. They even have beginner courses if you want to give it a try while you're in town.
Nestled in misty, forest-covered mountains, Chiang Mai is one of the best places in Thailand for travelers who want to experience a different side of the country. It is a city full of ancient buildings, lush rainforests and trekking opportunities in the hills.

A great way to explore the natural side of Chiang Mai is to visit Doi Intanon National Park. This park is part of the Himalayan mountain range and is home to remote villages and stunning views.
Chiang Mai boasts more active Buddhist temples than any other city in Thailand. Some popular landmarks include Doi Suthep, which offers great views of the city centre, as well as Wat Phra Singh and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.

And the islands nearby are easy to reach by ferry. Koh Tao, a smaller island close to Koh Samui, is one of the best places to go scuba diving in Thailand. The Ang Thong National Marine Park, with its 42 islands, is a special place where they protect lots of different animals that you won't find anywhere else.
4 Phuket:
It is an island in Thailand, and it's well-known for its beautiful beaches. Numerous people come here for a beach vacation. You can visit different beaches like Kata Noi if you want a peaceful place, Nai Harn Beach for clear water and palm trees, or Surin Beach if you want a fancy resort by the sea.
If you would like to explore the spiritual side of Phuket, you can go up Nakkerd Hill to see a giant statue called the Big Buddha. There's also a big temple in Phuket called Wat Chalong, and it's the biggest one on the island. They say it has a small piece of Buddha's bone in a special place there.
In Phuket Town, you can walk around and see old buildings from when the Portuguese and Chinese used to trade with Thailand. There are also old shops that are now busy stores and markets.

It's a mostly untouched rainforest with warm natural pools and many different animals and plants.
